Hi - I would like to run a challange on January 11 to mark the day in 1922 when insulin was first given to a person with diabetes in order to keep that person alive.
If I use Jan 11 as both the start & end dates, will that work? I assume start time = 00:01 and end time = 11.59. Thanks. |

Hi,
----------------------------------------Here's a sample http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/challe...llenge.do?challengeId=671 If ever searching, you can do it on type, begin / end dates and sorted by name, which ishow i found above. Per definition all challenges are 24 hours following the UTC time keeping. cheers.

Per definition all challenges are 24 hours following the UTC time keeping. By "following" I assume you mean "according to", not "after". At present there is a challenge called The Challenge of St. Valentine. A few questions: 1. The time for the challenge is 00:00 to 24:00 UTC on 14 Feb. Is this is correct? 2. The challenge is based on increase in run time. Over what period is the baseline determined? 3. In order to qualify for run time must a workunit be valid? 4. Seeing that challenges are team-based, does that mean the progress is only updated once a day, with the 24:00 statistics update? 5. If 4, above, is true, then do we only know how we're doing once it's all over? 6. Can challenges be limited to a particular research project?

The challenge is based on increase in run time. Over what period is the baseline determined? Average daily of i think past 30 days. 3. In order to qualify for run time must a workunit be valid? All work that is validated during the challenge period. 4. Seeing that challenges are team-based, does that mean the progress is only updated once a day, with the 24:00 statistics update? Correct 5. If 4, above, is true, then do we only know how we're doing once it's all over? Unless you start scraping member pages and took their stats in the morning of the challenge start day, you won't know. Yes on 1 day challenges you only learn after the end. For longer ones, you could estimate. 6. Can challenges be limited to a particular research project? No, but you could agree with the participants. Help has many more answers on challenges.

Thanks!
---------------------------------------- It seems, therefore, that with the short challenges, we should fill up the cache and start crunching well before the start of the challenge. We then report the workunits only after the challenge has started, resulting in an increased score. ![]()
