Not this year. The techs are working on launching a different project, but as far as I know, Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy is next in the queue after that. By "different project" I assume you are referring to Clean Energy Project, no? :) I'm hoping to see the resumption of this project and Dengue drugs both in January. Here's hope! |

In your quote you forgot "This is subject to change, of course."
---------------------------------------- January is a little too early for HCMD but it is still expected late in the 1st quarter. For DDDT other news seem to allow hope for resuming rather soon. And why not another new project in between if things are going well? 2009 will not be dull at WCG. Jean. |

Any further update on when we can hope to have HCMD up and running?

Work has started again. No exact date yet but late March/early April 2009 looks possible.

I have always run all active project profiles, but this one has quite suddenly taken on greater interest to me as my 5 year old son has just been diagnosed with MD.
I am very anxious for this to become active again as all advancements count. Does anybody know if there are additional MD projects in the works for WCG? |

Hello Doug,
----------------------------------------at first, I am very sorry for your son and I hope the best for him and for the Family. The last official feedback mentioned a release of the next phase of HCMD for end of March or latest April 2009 (see the related post). Considering the initial intention to start the second phase much earlier (early 2008), we are very close to the restarting point. Cheers, Yves |

Hallo Doug and KerSamson,
also my 2 years old son Daniele was diagnosed with Duchenne MD just 1 year ago. He as a missense point mutation in exon 14 (1616 G->A) (R539Q). It seems to be the first time that this mutation is reported. I really hope that this project start as soon as possible. Greetings all. Fabio |

Fabio,
If you haven't already I HIGHLY suggest you link up to the Parent Project at www.parentprojectmd.org duchenneconnect.org dmdregistry.org/reports as two really good resources. The greatest hopes for all Duchenne boys is the upcoming Utrophin efforts. Utrophin is naturally occuring but needs to be stimulated to once again expand beyond muscle attach points as it did prior to when Dystrophin is supposed to take over in muscle fibres. This is an important avenue for your research while other Antisense, stem cell and other research bring true cure. |
