Tweaking for better results

Two questions:

1. If I re-boot my PC every other day, does that harm any of the current WCG jobs running?

2. My new PC has a Core 2 Extreame CPU (4 processors) running on Vista. Is there any tweaking I can do to for better results? Or, should I just let Boinc run as installed?

Thanks.

Re: Tweaking for better results

Ron,

Unless you are skilled (or have someone that is) in the area of over clocking.. I'd recommend leaving your system stock. It's plenty fast now honest.

Over clocking, unless you have some real good cooling systems, a good PSU, a moderately high end MB and Memory is likely to cause components to fault and could void your warranty.

Do as you like.. but those are my recommendations.

BTW, I've nad extensive experience Over clocking PC's (yes I've cooked a couple CPU's; MB's Memory and other components learning (expensive learning, definitely not something you want to do every day)

If you want to see what I've done to my system feel free to look here:

my system

Hope this helps.

hi ronfranks1,

On Point 1, recommend to acquire some understanding how the science programs save progress periodically and the advised procedure on closing down a system to get the optimal 'resume' from interruption. You'll find it in the Checkpoint Saving FAQ.

On Point 2, hardware optimization, visit out Chat Room which also subs as the Tweakers Zone. Quite a few threads are there.

And thanks for being with us.
