I have my Profile to run Fight AIDS job and then allow for others to run when there are no AIDS jobs to run, All of my machines now have job from the other projects. Is there a problem with the Fight AIDS jobs or could it be something else?

Hi pacerintl,
----------------------------------------WCG is switching science application version and near doubling the project speed going to zero redundancy. Several threads discussing this and in the member news you can find an announcement. Hoping the relaunch is Saturday. ciao http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=21476 http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=21572

You are right, Scribe. When it is for submitting particular problems I tend to think that people choose the easiest way, i.e. it is faster and easier for them to say I have a problem, even more if they do not bother to document it carefully, than to dig into the support forum.
----------------------------------------But in this case having a look at the official news would have saved some typing to the author of the opening post. So I wonder, maybe we should make the section titles of the forum more highlighted (when checking how the forum home page is looking like I was close to not see the "Official Messages" title). And also change the section title "Member news" to something else. Every time I see it I tend to think it is containing only news about the members, although I know what is inside. Maybe something like "Bulletin board" or anything better in this spirit would be more efficient? Any suggestions are welcome. Cheers. Jean. |

Scribe & Jean,
----------------------------------------As it stands there are (168244 Posts in 10886 Threads). Attempting to search for something starts to present a lot of "false positive hits". I recognize your frustration but some of you that have been here since Christ was a child know or have a memory for what's been posted, hence from your perspective the end user hasn't done any work to find the answer themselves. I too have attempted to use the search function to locate previous posts in the past and receive so many false positives it's almost not worth the search unless you know "EXACTLY" what to enter for the search arguments. Jean, you bring up an interesting idea. Perhaps having some threads being "sticky" in each of the specific projects might help? Helps everyone until this mvnforum version gets deep sixxed. thanks PS: To our backroom I've send on trial a new CA (Comédien Artistique) tool, for which we'll be making our mind up if to implement. ![]() ![]()

In the Member news where you should always look first to see what is happening, it is the second thread. If the forum concerned (FAAH) it is currently the top thread. 30 seconds to look at each forum does not require a massive search....just a little common sense.! Barney,
----------------------------------------I was just candidly stating facts without anybody in particular as a hidden target. Only a little touch of irony for members who are just writing things like "I have an awful problem with Boinc. It does not work, what should I do?" , which is not your case as far as I remember. In fact I think I was even implying that it is easy to not find what we think is or should be obvious. Regarding the search feature of the current level of the forum software it is an old story and everybody (with CAs on the front row) is impatient to see it upgraded to its latest version which has most of what we are missing today. Now that UD has been pushed out of the environment that day should not be too far away. And to tell you the truth, even for a CA who knows what he wants to find it is not always simple to find "this old post that answers the question pretty well" and for which he would like to put a link in his answer. Cheers. Jean. |
