Running XP? Get rid of the Luna theme

In

http://computershopper.com/howto/computer-cures-200807

near the bottom of the page, is a description of problems caused by the Luna theme in XP on machines with "low RAM", and how to get rid of the theme. I have two PIII XP machines with 512 megs of DRAM, which is not low for XP. I switched to the Windows Classic theme. I happen to be running Rice at the moment, with the screen saver. The lower thermometer, the task indicator, is filling up much more quickly than before.

Especially for folks running some older machines, take a look at the above URL, make the change, see if it does you some good.

Even better, go into your services and just disable the "Themes" service. And while your at it turn your screen saver to "blank". Now you have more CPU for crunching! wink

With Chrome, Google launches new browser war against Microsoft

In the ongoing war for Internet users' eyes and wallets, search giant Google on Tuesday unveiled a shiny new Web browser that it hopes will lure users away from Microsoft's Internet Explorer — and bolster Google's lucrative online advertising and applications business as well.

Unlikely. Chrome is more likely to steal share from Firefox.

Sorry, I don't see the relevance browser subjects to this subject or community.
