Will FightAIDS@home project end within 120 days? They said (last year) FightAIDS@home will be completed during 2008.

No, it won't, and no, they didn't.
FightAIDS@Home currently has enough work to run until 2012. This may change (up or down) depending on many factors. |

Thanks, Sekerob. But everything in that thread is correct. Nowhere did anyone claim that FightAIDS@Home will be completed during 2008.

FightAIDS@Home has a number of experiments lined up to run on the computer. There are a lot of AIDS researchers who keep coming up with new ideas for experiments. Scripps picks a few of these ideas that can be checked with the AutoDock program and adds them to the list. This is open-ended medical research. Any particular experiment has a limited size, but the project is unlimited.

A "Cure" is when meds or an injection can mobilize the natural defences to such a high level, that nothing needs to be taken after treatment. That is I think still a long way away.

Considering how this particular virus continues to evolve and mutate, I can only anticipate this project to continue long after most of us are no longer around.

FightAIDS@Home currently has enough work to run until 2012. Oh boy! So, the cure is not even near yet!? Keep the spirit for crunching, at least we trying to help the scientist find the cure  3 months ago, i'm happy when looking sekerob pie chart that fight aids complete 45%+ but right now the pie show 38,80% again  [Edit 2 times, last edit by sansanwawa at Aug 25, 2008 4:14:43 AM] |
