What does it mean to you?

To us it means the right of every human being to live in peace under whatever God they may choose to believe in. It means that everyone has the right to a decent home and standard of living, enough food, clean water and clothing, and a means of keeping warm. It means the right to be protected by our police and military against those who would do us harm, not to be persecuted by those same forces. It means the right to a free at the point of need medical service, not being required to pay before you will be treated. That is only a little of what real freedom means.

Joining this team will not gain you any of those things, but it will surely help science to help the whole of humanity in the long term.

That's what this team is all about - people. It's why we are here doing what we do. Governments cannot afford to finance this type of work, even if they were to have the resources available to them. Which is why individual human beings must get together to do the work for free. If we are going to do it, rather than become bored with processing data alone for a few weeks or months, it is far better to join a team and make new friends around the world.
