My personal website promotes grid computing in general, but with heavy emphasis on the WCG including direct links to join the WCG. It includes a video on my server, which I prefer to use in order to keep people focused on my page rather than detouring them to YouTube or something like that. In the past, it worked fine on Netscape and MS Internet Explorer, but I can't get it to work with Firefox, and now it has stopped working with my version of Netscape, too, after I replaced computers. Firefox and Netscape both indicate that I need a plugin, but then Firefox tells me that none is available, and the plugins for Netcape don't help. I want my site to be fully functional with as many browsers as possible, so I'm looking for some help to get this fixed. The page I'm speaking about is here:
http://home.alltel.net/billvelek/wcg.html Here is the html that I'm using for the video: <embed allowscriptaccess="never" src="bg_wcgrid.wmv" autostart="false" loop="-1" height="300" width="300"> I don't know too much about html -- just enough to barely get by -- so I can't figure out the problem. As I said, it works fine on Internet Explorer. I tried changing "loop" to "1", but that doesn't change anything. "autostart" and dimensions shouldn't have anything to do with this. Is it just a matter that Firefox and Netscape won't play '.wmv' type files? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Bill Velek |

You need Windows Media Player.

Thanks, 'D', but that didn't help. I already had Windows Media Player 11 installed, but just in case something was wrong with it, I downloaded it all over again and re-installed it. Same problem as before.
Anyway, I just went ahead and replaced the video with embedded code from YouTube, and it works fine now with all three browsers. Cheers. Bill Velek |
