Multiple Installs on Home network

I have 3 windows PCs networked and running the agent, 2 are 98SE and 1 is Win2K.

All were installed using my userid.

Recently the points total on the Win2K box was updated and I noticed that the others had not. So I logged on and checked the device list, but only 2 of my machines were listed.

What has happened to the third device ?

Re: Multiple Installs on Home network

Trevor --

The points total in the World Community Grid Agent display window is updated only when a result is uploaded and the next is downloaded, so it is not unusual for your systems to have different totals displayed. Your device list will only show devices which have successfully completed work units. If the device that is not showing recently had the software installed, it probably has not completed a work unit yet and would not appear in the list for that reason. If it is not a recent installation, then it is perhaps failing for some reason. There are quite a few possible causes for failures. If you suspect that it is failing, the first thing you should check is that the system meets the minimum requirements for the grid (http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/join_now/system_requirements.html). If it does meet the requirements, then visit the Community-maintained FAQ's forum at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/listthreads?forum=3. Several threads in that forum discuss causes for failure. You will need to identify the symptoms of any failures you might be experiencing to identify any fixes or circumventions that are offered. There are a couple of other problems identified in the Known Issues forum at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/listthreads?forum=2.

If you find you are still unable to determine the problem, please get back to us by posting again in this thread. We will need more information relating to any symptoms you are seeing to work with you on it.

Good Luck!

Re: Multiple Installs on Home network

Dave,

My third device is now appearing in my list. I think perhaps I didn't allow sufficient time for the update to happen.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Trevor.
