Not getting work!

Hey all!

I installed OpenSUSE 11.0 and BOINC a while ago and not getting any work for WCG since. Other projects work fine. These are the messages I'm getting:

Fri 25 Jul 2008 11:22:54 PM EDT|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 12943 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks
Fri 25 Jul 2008 11:22:55 PM EDT||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
Fri 25 Jul 2008 11:22:56 PM EDT||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.
Fri 25 Jul 2008 11:22:59 PM EDT|World Community Grid|Scheduler request failed: Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)

I've tried reseting the project, detaching and reattaching; checked permissions to the folder.

Any ideas? Thanks

Eh...the message: Problem with the SSL CA cert --
Please check your system clock, so it is not set to 2003 or so.

Re: Not getting work!

Here's a wiki that pulls together several FAQ's from our most overlooked Start Here forum:

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/Error/Scheduler%20request%20failed

Think the answer is there and if not, we'll dig further, but there are many posts in the BOINC forum discussing this most prominent Linux+WCG secure link authorization.

Re: Not getting work!

This has been reported about OpenSUSE 11.0 a few times, now. It seems their BOINC package is broken.

marcuac, please check where you got your copy of BOINC from, and report the bug to them. Meanwhile, use the workaround in http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/Error/Scheduler%20request%20failed

Re: Not getting work!

Thanks for the replies.
Date was fine, ca-bundle.crt file was in place. Opensuse doesn't have a BOINC package (that I know of). I'm using the latest client/manager downloaded yesterday from BOINC. It might not be 100% compatible with opensuse. I'm going to try a third party build for opensuse see if it's any different. I'll let you know.

Re: Not getting work!

FIXED IT!

It was the ca-bundle.crt file. I had it in the BOINC folder to begin with but I noticed the project and configuration files were stored in my user folder (/home/suse) so I copied ca-bundele.crt in there and now it works.

Re: Not getting work!

Where did the BOINC startup log tell you where the Data Directory was?

Re: Not getting work!

Hi marcuac,
I added a link to this thread on the Start Here post about ca-bundle.crt by Didactylos. I expect that explicitly showing a problem caused by putting ca-bundle.crt in the BOINC folder rather than in the Data Directory will help people with this problem.

So, my instructions are right! That's good news.
