One of my latest FAAHs hung up on me after several hours of crunching (29.36 hours!) with the error -131 (output file too big). Not weird when you see what gunk it put in the stderr.txt file. I particularly like "Restoring grahics."

Hi Jord,

Understood the gunk was partly a result of new messages and functions added to the developers version 6.2.11 like the deadline check. Posted in the Nutritious Rice about this and knreed explaining why they now occur. Once the science gets recompiled with the latest API, which i would not do until after 6.2 has been solidly proven, some of those should go away again. The second black window for graphics should now be gone though with this BOINC iteration. cheers

Hi Jord, So yes, it seems a first for the FAAH forum to get this report and will pass this on. Thanks. For side info, it happened on a P4 3.0GHz HT, 2GB PC3200 RAM, Windows XP Pro SP2. So a 29.36 hour run time is a tad long, even for FAAH. For comparison, my AMD XP 2200+ will deliver a same task in under 26 hours. (if it doesn't crash in the last 50 minutes )Once the science gets recompiled with the latest API, which i would not do until after 6.2 has been solidly proven, some of those should go away again. Yes, I know that already. Best they add a 'p' to grahics then. (graphics!) The second black window for graphics should now be gone though with this BOINC iteration. It was already, told you so a while ago and had already tested something for Kevin off the forums.

Hmmm - not sure what to say about this error. The other two results for the workunit completed successfully and the largest log file (the file that was rejected for you) was about 650Kbytes - one tenth of what is allowed. The other results also ran much quicker then it ran on your computer (and claimed half of what your computer claimed).
I will go ahead and up the limit for that file so that the result would be accepted next time. |

Well did you now  .... can't remember and only noticed it being gone'd on both Vista (6.2.11) and XP (6.2.9) a few days ago and now everybody else knows too

This first is the data file and the second is a the application log file. The application log file is different then the stderr log that you can see for each result. I was referring to the application log file. |

The other results also ran much quicker then it ran on your computer (and claimed half of what your computer claimed). That had me wondering as well. Looking at all other results, I usually claim more than I get (but am not OC'ing so not a clue). Would it be possible this task solely ran on the virtual hyperthreaded CPU? As I said, I didn't keep an eye on it, it's set and forget mostly. I only noticed in my grid that this task had an error and then went looking for the error log. Luckily I still had it, as there's also a bug in 6.2 that doesn't follow the cc_config.xml option anymore through which you set the size of your std*dae.txt files. So those files are max 2MB and get quickly overwritten here (less than 4 days).
