You are supposed to connect to localhost. BOINC is in two parts - the service that does the work, and BOINC Manager that lets you controls it. The two parts communicate using TCP.
So, connect to localhost again (you said that worked) and try attaching to World Community Grid. Ask again if you have further problems. |

1. "connecting to localhost".
2. I click on any option from "tools", & get that notice. Of-course it suggest to reconnect, of-course it fails. if I choose "no", I get "disconnected" - not even localhost What to do? long time ago it worked perfect. |

If you can't get the two parts of BOINC to talk to each other, there are two possibilities:
1) BOINC crashed, and BOINC Manager can't connect to it. To see if this is the case, open Task Manager and look in the processes tab for boinc.exe. It should be there. 2) Your firewall or security software is blocking access. What software do you use? |

What software do you use? __I disabled the firewall & nothing. |

Hello surui,
Could you describe your system to us? Are you running Windows XP SP3? What security software are you running? Lawrence |

It seems that I install something that mess-up the system. I reinstall it & install supported updates only.
It works perfectly. Thank you for any help. |
