World Community Grid is pleased to announce that the web site is now available in Chinese. For members whose browsers are set to Chinese as the default language, the site will now automatically display in Chinese. As with the other languages, Chinese can be selected from the drop-down list of the main navigation bar.
----------------------------------------The content on the site has also been updated for the other languages offered, which includes the latest project, Nutritious Rice for the World. In addition to these significant updates, there are several other changes to the website: 1. New Project Opt-In / Opt-out feature: A check-box has been added to the My Projects and Device Profile pages which will allow our members to decide whether or not to receive work from new projects when they are launched. To set this option for all devices, our members will need to check, or uncheck, the appropriate box on the My Projects page and save the preferences. Changes on a device-by-device basis, may be made on the Device Profile page. As a part of implementing this change, the check-box has initially been set as follows: - Members who have selected all projects, or all projects with the exception of AfricanClimate@Home, on the My Projects page will have the box checked and any new projects will automatically be added to their list of selected projects - Members who have less than all projects selected, (excluding AfricanClimate@Home), will not have the box checked and will not automatically have any new projects added to their list of selected projects. These members will need to go to the My Projects and/or Device Profile page(s) and check the appropriate box for any new projects in which they wish to participate Existing members who have selected all projects, or all projects with the exception of AfricanClimate@Home, AND do not wish to participate in new projects, will need to go to the My Projects and/or Device Profile pages and uncheck the box. New members who select all projects (excluding AfricanClimate@Home) will automatically have the box checked and will have any new projects added to their list of selected projects. New members who select less than all available projects will not have the box checked and will not have any new projects added to their list of selected projects. 2. A new status report (Volume 5) is available for the FightAIDS@Home project. Click here for the FightAIDS@Home Research page containing the link to the update. 3. The proposal review cycle calendar dates on the Submit a Proposal page have been updated through June 2009. 4. Because of the migration from UD to BOINC, the World Community Grid End-User-License-Agreement has been changed as follows: PARTICIPATION IN WORLD COMMUNITY GRID TO BE IN THE PROJECT, YOU MAY RECEIVE SOFTWARE THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD ONTO YOUR COMPUTER, SUCH AS CERTAIN SOFTWARE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA . YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL PROVISIONS OF THE APPLICABLE SOFTWARE LICENSE FOR THE SOFTWARE, AND YOU WILL USE THE SOFTWARE ONLY AS PERMITTED BY ITS APPLICABLE LICENSE. 5. The BOINC logo has been added to the World Community Grid home page in appreciation of the valuable contribution that BOINC provides to World Community Grid.
