Hi;
Problem: I can't re-connect to WCG through my boincmgr. Messages gives me the following message: "Thu 26 Jun 2008 06:43:23 PM EDT|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks Thu 26 Jun 2008 06:46:51 PM EDT|World Community Grid|Scheduler request failed: Couldn't resolve host name " The situation: 1) Had boinc working in Fedora 8. 2) Downloaded and installed Boinc in a newly installed Fedora 9 3) boinc-client is running as a service nicely. 4) Copied gui_rpc_auth.cfg from /var/lib/boinc to $HOME; changed permissions to user. 5) Used boincmgr to attach WCG projects to my boinc-client. 6) Logged out, shutdown my computer; re-booted. 7) boinc-client re-started as it should and is working nicely in the background 8) boincmgr shows the active project but can no longer connect to WCG. "BOINC MANAGER - network status" "BOINC is unable to communicate with a project and needs an Internet connection. Please connect to the Internet, then select the 'retry communications' item off the advanced menu." Sentence is ambiguous. My machine is connected to the internet, Browsers etc. are all working. If the dialogue means please connect through boincmgr, that, of course, is what I have unsuccessfully been trying to do. 9) When I try to re-attach (just to see what happens) I get an error dialogue that says: "Network communications failure etc. 1) Connectivity problem. etc [my internet connection is up and running; it works well for other applicatrions] 2)Personal firewall software is blocking BOINC. etc [SELinux is running in permissive mode. Port 80 is open. I am using no other firewall protection] 3) You are using a proxy server. [No I am not] Regards Randy |
