I don't know a utility like what you ask for (which does not mean that there is not any). But this is what I would do if I had your problem and I wanted to know.
----------------------------------------1. Kill Firefox from Task Manager 2. Check that your other processes feel much better (to make sure that Firefox was the culprit, not a collateral victim) 3. Start Firefox again. It will ask you if you want to restore your previous sessions or not. Say yes. 4. Check with Task Manager if the problem reoccurs or if it was only an accident (I had this once). 5. If the problem is coming back kill each tab of your Firefox window(s) one at a time and check with Task Manager which one was weird. Good luck. Jean. |

5. If the problem is coming back kill each tab of your Firefox window(s) one at a time and check with Task Manager which one was weird. That will only help if you actually open FF with multiple tabs preloaded. Not everyone does that and it may not even help. Download and install: Spybot Search&Destroy Run it, update it, then immunize and scan your system with it. Fix everything it finds wrong. You may also want to get Spywareblaster for future protection (if you keep it up-to-date).

But Firefox is pretty smart at doing it for you in this particular circumstance if you want it. Each FF window (if several windows were open at the time of the crash) is restored with all its respective tabs inside. I think it is starting from the caches it could not clean when it was killed. Having said that, I agree that it might not be enough for UNIRAC to identify the nasty site. ![]() Cheers. Jean. |

Hi UNiRAC,
The new AVG Anti-Virus 8.0 has added a module called LinkScanner that scans links before you even click on them, looking for trouble. This is a pain, since it will cheerfully check all the links returned by Google and in general clogs up the connection uselessly. So I have disabled LinkScanner on my computer. But you might want it if you are in the habit of wandering off the main boulevards into dark alleys on the Internet. Lawrence |

Even perfectly legitimate pages can cause trouble in Firefox. There is no limit to the amount of CPU scripts are allowed to use - whether the tab is focussed or not. Flash, too, can steal CPU.
It can be very annoying. |

Thank you all [geekz?] for ideas to chase down this CPU Gremlin [the problem 's not here today with 4 of my dozen ''sites'' up , but I think I may just dust off my ''PET'' to get something done. L0L BTW: I didn't realize that Nixon and Cheney's Tricky Nickname was THAT offensive ! LMAO ps: I don't do approved appelets [sp?] like Flash, Realaudio, etc for all night - I even kill REAL's process when done. But I forgot about JAVA ! I suspect it 'cause it's updates have been eating up me hard-Drives' space [ as a example of poor consideration to the masses ] ! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
