----------------------------------------![]() Sure, reason is very clear for big picture. There is big symmetrical shock which might have very good reason, but I cannot agree that SSAB should face it so identically. Simple reason is that they did know this moment to come one year ago, company did merge with another Nordic competitor and have done all great lay outs, etc. This company has performed all those actions that giants are about to start. Then major owner is LKAB which happen to product raw materials, etc. Since these shocks hit everybody so symmetrically, makes me wonder that there is just big computers with big categories, like metal etc. And when they sell, those sell everything under category with CPU's redhot. Got some support for this theory from there that yesterday SSAB was heavlily sold on Sweden (The Market) and purchased mostly here on Finland (crappy poor hillbilly county). Well, my neighbourhood got first shop. "Grand" (as grand as tiny food shop can have) today and went to see what they have to offer. Did found "fresh" local 2kg (4,4 pound) carrotbag with 0,98E, which did make me so happy. Fresh local carrot are really hard to found this time of year, usually price is four time higher and those look more like beetroot from Crimian War or Star Wars or something. So happy ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by ultimaThule at Dec 10, 2015 4:43:50 PM] |

I have to say I agree with you to the extent that computer buy/sell algorithms if all constructed about the same and executed about the same time can create a tsunami effect on the market. Some of those just look at big categories, not the individual companies. Well, my neighbourhood got first shop. We are blessed here because good vegetables are available all year around. The giant German outfit Aldi has moved into the area in the last couple of years and have provided much needed competition to the the other grocers. On some items they do better than the local big guys CashWise, Walmart and Target. They recently doubled the size of their local store. I spoke with one of the employees there and I was told they are the busiest Aldi in the U.S. They have very good fruits, vegetables, meats and milk. Not so much with their private label cereals however. I tried one a while back and I think cardboard would have been tastier. ![]() Cheers

Have you try some sauce ![]() Seriously, no Aldi here but it worst competitor Lidl for sure. Did also open local markets to real competition. After WW2 local market was divided basically by two operator since enter the Lidl on beginning of millennium. This did drop price level on groceries something like 60%. Funnies part was that Lidl was first employee to pay real salaries, cashiers did get something like 200E more base salary, economies did get equal salary with colleges on DB etc. It was pretty unheard then and still is, 2014 they did start to pay 10% extra for workers on metropolitan area. Argument was that rents are higher on metropolitan. Five hours to weekend, kind of working tomorrow but "solo-flight" (some network-migration) so it kind of does not feel like working. Would play with same items on home anyway. +8'C (+549'R) here.... Mr Rankine on pic. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by ultimaThule at Dec 11, 2015 8:59:24 AM] |

Ou poi, first blizzard here
----------------------------------------![]() I sure do luv these. When sky through these heavy dishcloth items wheelbarrow per second horizontally, it is just universe of it's own. It is not walking or diving, it is just some very unique being on between both of these. Not walking, since normally I do not understand floating on this 3D element called air, but on blizzard I sure do since I can see it so very clearly and there fore I can expect weight of turbulence to hit me before it get to my skin. So walking on blizzard is kind of floating with full view of semi-liquid ocean, without full unexpected buoyancy. Walking on blizzard is like navigating with telemeter. You just can see it before it hit you... Some indoor stuff.. Another one grown from seed on tiny peat pellet. Not any soil or anything, those wood stick are from sushi mat, so basically just some peat to top of plastic cup. Sure does not seems to mind a lot. 20W CFL on top and 10W led strip on below. Ou poi, think poor dude will never know what did hit it, that dude will be like so part of soup today ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Some funny stuff..
----------------------------------------It ever wonder how much solar plant will generate here on southern edge of Thule, some numbers. Plant has 1188 panel, each 285W. Today's total production was 1,09 kWh, aka something that one panel would create in few hours around Mediterranean. But sure is wonderful business to company, their core idea is to rent those panels. Monthly fee 4,40€. What ever electricity you create, you can keep. With month production, you get some juice to cellular phone, not much but some. Still few left (white tiles), so chop chop! S*it this is fun ![]() https://www.helen.fi/sahko/kodit/aurinkovoimalat/suvilahti/.. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by ultimaThule at Jan 4, 2016 3:15:11 PM] |

Being in the higher latitudes, the solar generation will of course be much greater in summer than winter. Having just passed the winter solstice, each day should show greater generating than the previous day up to the summer solstice. Yearly production probably, in general, resembles a sine wave. I briefly looked at the Helen site and they have shown quite a decrease in pollutants since 1990.
----------------------------------------An interesting name for an electric company. I immediately thought of Helen of Troy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_of_Troy Cheers

Actually there was pretty much sun it the air yesterday, it was cloudless day, so with solar->heat vacuum tubes , that same roof would been generate easily hundred time more solar energy.
----------------------------------------What did happen here was, that those solar -> electricity collectors are flat surfaces (heat-tubes -> tubes-> immune for this) so it takes a very little amount (absolutely just some dust layer) of crystal snow to turn them to solar reflectors. Generally this hold plant is originally planned for those who like to eat their mushrooms unboiled. Company admit that on best scenario ever, (on summer) panel will yield juice amount Euro/m, and rent it 4,4E/m year around. But another hand, you receive some nice token on Facebook and nice gadget to smart phone, where you can follow panel carrying your own name on some web page (that only you can see) will not produce any electricity at all most of the time. Summa summarium, infrastructure of those gadgets (including company's billing infrastructure and fact that manufacture of one cell has consume 17 MWh energy + cargo to another side of world ) will make sure that every tamagotchi (panel) is severe hit to nature. So think Helen will become grand polluter on future or something. Apropå Helen = Hel(sinki)En(ergia) ![]() |

Apropå II
----------------------------------------Just change my energy deal, got 100% water power, 4,43c/kWh, monthly basic fee 0,00€ Electricity is very cheap here on Nordic currently. Last summer was very rainy and winter has been extremely warm. Well warm untill now, this week did bring some really deep Sub-Artic readings, -25'C (-13'F) even here on South. So kind of did start to hunt last days offers, this one I got closes on Friday so did get pretty close I say. Well, got 12 month on that price, so do not mind if Hellsinki freezes over ![]() ![]() https://youtu.be/x8FbeRniACI ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by ultimaThule at Jan 5, 2016 9:28:06 PM] |
