1, The islands exist and are 80 miles from the uk and on a good day you can see France 9 miles ( more scarely the nuclear power plant!)
2, it is not infact a part of the EU or the UK But is part of the British Isles (which always gives us a problem when chosing a country on the net we don't exist!) 3, The original language of Guensey is called Patois and is infact French. But the only time ive herd anybody claim they are using it sounds more like good old anglo saxxon to me! 4, Our greatest rivalry is with the nearrst islan of Jersey. which are called craupaud (french for toad). they in return call us Donkeys. 5, Victor Hugo finished Les Miserables on the island and wrote toilers of the sea from here. 6, We still use a pound note 7, The channel Islands (which we are part of) was the only part of the British Isle occupied in the war. This year we will selibrate the 60th year of our liberation particulay on May 8th ,which is liberation day (and a day of work Horray!) 8, I work at the islands only brewery (R.W Randall ) brewing since 1868. (slightly before my time) 9, It Has a cow and a jumper named after the Island 10, Sir Isaac Brock 'the man who saved canada' in 1812 was a GUern Unfortunately, Brock was shot and killed while cheering his men forward! No i didnt know about Guernsey--But it sounds very interisting My Mother and her sister were from UK and Wales desent they came to USA in the 1940s to escape the war I have a sister in law that came from the chek. Republic She can remember fleeing the German Armies
