After the recent outage (I think it was around May 12) most of my BOINC device profiles (I use 'em all) were deleted, although the devices were still pointing to them. I recreated them all except for the "work" profile. Every time I bring it up it has the maximum output profile selected even though I select custom and save. I even change a few parameters just to make sure that there is actually a change to save, but it always comes back up as maximum output .

This is the same regardless from which computer you visit the website and irrespective of using FireFox or IE? Have you also cleaned the page cache/cookies buffer? Just looking if it can be replicated on your end using different browser and computer.
----------------------------------------WCG uses lots of JavaScript and with SP3 on XP finding it's way out, more strange things have happened. BTW, i deleted 'school' last weekend and is disappeared off the screen not to re-appear in the 'create' section. Came out it was the RIP add-in for FireFox misbehaving.

NixChix, this is by design. The page shows "Maximum Output" if certain major parameters are set to certain values. Other parameters are ignored.
It is possible there is still a problem, though. When you click "Custom", does it show the values that you set, or did they fail to save? Profiles can become corrupt in such a way that saving fails. If so, we will have to involve the techs to help you. |

If the following settings are set in your profile, then when you view the page, the checkbox 'max' will be set:
Max Memory Used while In Use: 75% Max Memory Used while Idle: 90% Max Virtual Memory Used: 75% Leave Applications in Memory: true Max % Processor Time: 100% Run if user active: True Do work only after computer is idle for: 3 Stop work after computer is idle for: 0 |

okay, have amended the Start Here Device Profile FAQ to reflect this "behaviour by design".

The additional paramenters did save, even though they did not display unless I re-clicked "custom". I then changed the "max memory" to 95% from 90% and now it displays all parameters as expected when I call the profile back up. Good idea to update the faqs Sek, hopefully it will avoid the same issue being raised again. When the device profile comes up as it did, it gives the impression that it is wholy a default set of values. Probably the first time that it is used they are all default values. I would urge the developers to reconsider following the approach that they have taken and instead leave "custom" checked once it has been selected and saved. ![]() I will update the first post.
