I just upgraded from UD to Bionic and now I get the message "Communication Deferred". I tried detaching from World Community Grid and reattaching and entered by userid and password, but it still says communication deferred.

"communication deferred" usually just means that it is x amount of time until it contacts the server again. It is a mechanism for spreading out the server load. If you hit the update button without something to report, it can also cause a forced delay.
----------------------------------------If you are using a proxy, there are some hints here. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=proxy Since you are just starting, we may not yet know enough information about what's going on there. There is a mechanism to copy part of the BOINC messages that look "interesting". Paste them here. We're not sure we want to see ALL messages.

----------------------------------------welcome to BOINC (I stay curious about your title BOINIC... rsrsrsrsr  and enter here to check what is it...).I don't know what exact message appear for you in message tab inside BOINC agent, but let me suggest that : 1) Goes to your MY GRID, and then to MY PROJECTS inside your WCG personal data page. So, verify if you have checked the projects options of your preference. It will garantee that you will receive WU's from WCG when available for this projects. 2) Goes to your MY GRID, and then to DEVICE MANAGER, and then to your BOINC device just installed, and edit it to garantee that you have the roghts parameters according your availability (in fact from your machine perspective) to run WCG and you can check in this space the specific projects for this specific machine if you pefer crunch in this way... 3) After the previous suggestion, please goes to your BOINC agent and access ADVANCED (superior menu) and then PREFERENCES. There, you can check your favourites settings to crunch WU's... and you can modify the settings to run in this specific PC, the options checked /described by you just for this specific machine... I suggest pay attention on Network Usage tab, and then in Connect about every (...) days, and here put something like 0.01 days for example (I use it for all of my machines). You can setting too the work buffer days (I use 3 days). In fact I suggest that you review each tab, all information provided that you can edit according your preference...
