How many days to the Next 10k CPU Years Milestone?

With the New project Nutritious Rice For the World launched today we just passed the 160,000 CPU year mark and goeing ever faster in a decreasing number of days it takes to accumulate the next 10k Runtime increment.
Date Days10k	CPU Year Increments
08/05/07 49 160033
08/03/20 48 150072
08/02/02 51 140093
07/12/14 52 130030
07/10/24 53 120057
07/09/02 58 110141
07/07/07 55 100076
07/05/14 64 90083
07/03/12 71 80085
07/01/01 77 70006
06/10/17 84 60054
06/07/26 86 50109
06/05/02 80 40060
06/02/12 91 30090
05/11/14 176 20057
05/05/23 189 10021

The Runtime reported used to be All Wallclock time when starting out with the now almost 'RIP' UD agent. Many 'Ran' throttled even at 25% CPU utilisation reporting 100% Run time 24/7.

Now it is nearly all pure CPU time, so if a computer crunches 25% of it's available CPU cycles in a day, it will report 6 hours. Thus, please don't read anything into that 1 extra day for the last 10k.... there were quite a few science application changes e.g. requiring projects to be slowed down near halting.

Seasonally corrected back to wallclock time it would surely have been 47 or 46. But, as the number of days shrinks to take those 10k steps, we might have to put it in day segment counts to avoid the 'growth is flat' image smile With summer approaching things will again slow as colleges take a break, the UK gets their 2 weeks vacation and the old continent their 3 months (Sogno D'Oro, gold diggers dream of course)

World Community Grid appreciates every cycle, be it from 1 minute, 1 hour or 24 hours a day of volunteer computing. Sometimes a bit faster, sometimes a bit slower.

Now the point of this post: Predict the number of days it takes to the next 10,000 milestone at 170,000. It took 189 days when starting out on Nove.16, 2004. Last we had 48 and 49 days. Will it be 49 again, 48, 50? Give it ago and predict the pulse rate of WCG:

My bet: 47 days, from the CA fool on the Colli Italia

Re: How many days to the Next 10k CPU Years Milestone?

Hi Sek,
my bet is that we will reached it around 46 days or less.

Once we will get a lot of new crunchers with this new rice project launched today, I think that WCG capabilities to reached this new target will increase a lot of...and quickly... let's check after... Regards. coffee Giba.

Re: How many days to the Next 10k CPU Years Milestone?

This one too reduxed with an added line, datapoint labels & matrix for easier date / milestone correlation. My extrapolation is about June 25 or 29 days from now, making it 50 days for 10k which is about 10 days faster than same time last year (we had some technical difficulties and summer is approaching).

Re: How many days to the Next 10k CPU Years Milestone?

With a new 1 billion points in a week record, another 10k milestone was passed yesterday scaling 190,000 and now firmly on our way to 200,000 Run Time Years.

When? Maybe 1 or more days quicker i.e. on or before November 28 :D

Crunch On

That's quite a milestone!
I've only done 61 years to date, which seem so small compared to that huge total.
It just goes to show that every machine counts!

smile Re: How many days to the Next 10k CPU Years Milestone?

From deep down under, we did the fastest draw ever, needing 32 days to add 10,000 more CPU years... that was achieved on March 22.

Next up 10K in 30 days, rate of 120,000 annum? We can do it, and if you take the doubled speed of the just upgraded HCC project, it's Done.

Crunching On.

Sek this is me in my basement sweating (core temps 70C) to make it in 20 days. I have to shovel hard as there will be a crunching slowdown for easter I suppose.

Crunch, shovel, crunch, shovel, crunch....... biggrin
