HELP

This is my first post. I've been running 24/7 since Jan 1. Today I downloaded the new Boinc however I'm getting an ERROR and it's been 155 hours since my last results. I've missed two deadlines it's telling me there is no work. This is the first significant outage that has been incurred in 5 month. What can I expect from here? Ive rebooted several times as we have had a couple of power outages and it seem that I couldn't connect to IE (not only to WCG but any site. Have since downloaded Foxfire. Do I need to re-do anything as far as set up in order to get WCG connected to FF? Thanks in advance CAR

Re: HELP

Hi there first post poster,

Can you please open up the message window of your BOINC client, select a good range of log entries, preferably from the start till after the 'No work', hit the Copy the Selected Messages button, and post them in your second post, so we can assess the situation.

FoxFire or Firefox, you don't need to reinstall. If you hit any link button in the BOINC client like "My Grid" and it still opens up IE or no browser, we can fix that later.

Re: HELP

There are some weird errors from changing program versions this week on some projects. Full credit will be given. If errors persist for a couple of more weeks, we can talk about finding bad memory chips later.

Some outages this weekend also prevented getting new work on occasion, but a queue of a few days gets around the problem. That is also showing signs of being fixed as there have been no work backups today that I have seen.

5/11/2008 7:20:21 AM||Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 335.61MB

It might be worth checking your advanded / preferences / disk and memory tab

Mine are both set to 100% memory usage.

The jobs run at low priority, so will back off if anything else is active.

The file BOINC/stdoutdae.txt stores the complete list of messages shown in the Messages tab. What is the ERROR you posted about?

Re: HELP

Lawrence,
Since I downloaded Boinc SW I keep getting the message ERROR no work

We seem to have had some electrical outages and my internet connection is being a little flaky. I have reinstalled BOINC an hope it will sort it self out. This machine runs 24/7 on WCG and I hate to have it running and not doing anything. Thanks for the response. Carol
