I thought I installed the BOINC software, but now I'm not sure. How can I tell?

Hit Ctrl-Shift-Esc keys simultaneous and look if there is a BOINC.exe process or any that start with WCG or World Community Grid BOINC agent, if you are on Windows. I think with Linux it's the 'top' command.

You can also right-click on the WCG icon in your system tray (on Windows) and if it says "Open World Community Grid - BOINC Client" then you've got it.
