I was attempting to migrate a few work computers to the new BOINC Agent and the password was said to be too short.
I changed the password in WCG and now it says "Failed to attach to Project" "An error has occured; check messages for details" under messages it says "Fetching config from..." This is happening on 2 computers I changed the password on The BOINC works fine for other projects - can't get it to work on these... I am afriad to try my other 4 computers since is hasn't worked on the first 2 (and all passwords were the same and needed to be changed) Please help so I can get these working right again Thanks! |

Is that all it says? Copy and paste the messages.

What about this comment "The BOINC works fine for other projects". Are you attached already to other projects outside WCG?
----------------------------------------Okay, lacking the actual message sequence for us to read: - Go to Projects Tab - Select WCG - Hit Detach project - Try re-attaching from the Tools menu, Attach to Project (see below how to) if there is no WCG listed - Open Windows File explorer and find the account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml file - Delete it - Go back to BOINC and open Tools menu - Do Attach to project - Find WCG - Select WCG - Enter - If there is a box Existing Member / Already Member, tick it - Enter your existing member name and the password you now use **. - Hit OK Tell us and post content of message log. ** Read the Start Here forum FAQ and Help of what characters are allowed in the WCG password and in the BOINC password field. The rules are not identical (yes this is a cow dung thing) i.e. your password needs to conform to both conditions. Have you got proxy server in between. WCG requires SSL/HTTPS outward connection over port 80 and 443. Firewall (router or software) could be blocking too! Now all this commentary is why we like to see the messages including that what went on before and after. Without seeing the sequence we're guessing. What to the member seems innocent or meaningless may tell allot to the more trained eye.

Your attach attempt is what is causing the try to fetch the WCG config file.
