Hi, fellow crunchers!
Just out of curiosity. Is the 3rd WU a bug? The sending of a third copy of the workunits is not a bug; see this post:
----------------------------------------https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=19803 I am not sure that I fully understand the rationale; nevertheless, increasing the number of copies assists in ensuring accuracy. Now the timestamp, however – that might be a bug. [Edit 3 times, last edit by jonathandl at Apr 21, 2008 10:18:08 PM] |

What's up with that "01/01/1970" date?

That date is 1 AD Microsoft. If somebody forgot to set their computer clock, the date can show up like that.

Yes, but aren't the Sent Times and Times Due set by the server?
Anyhow, I like the idea of sending some jobs to more than two computers; FWIW I think that even after rolling out the new self-validating work units, initially they should have a quorum of 2, and only go to 1 after wider experience with these new work units "in production," to make sure that all WUs that pass self-validation are truly valid. |

last year, I was trying to move some BOINC jobs around between computers ... and I got 1/1/1900.

Pretty sure 1/1/1970 is a BOINC/Unix default time. If a work unit goes into the feeder and is subsequently canceled before submission to client, it gets that 'unassigned' date. If you look in your message log AND you've never changed the default profile, it will show there as 1/1/1970 too!
----------------------------------------Sort of scrunched together from little info pieces.. Bet you 1 authoritative person will show, eventually to give the final and unchallengeable opinion.

It's the Unix epoch. If you set the time to zero, that's the date you get.
