Just open it with a flat text editor like notepad. The file may already exist in either the BOINC Program or Data directory. When saving, make sure to flip the default txt extension, so it retains it's proper cc_config.xml name. You don't need to restart the client. Simply visit the Advanced menu and take the 'read config file' option to add the checkpoint message recording. I still don't understand what to do. I am creating a totally new xml file for the directory? And putting the info requested in it, and titling it cc_config.xml? Or is it already supposed to be there?? ![]() |

As said "The file may already exist in either the BOINC Program or Data directory." Just open up file explorer and navigate to the BOINC program directory. If the file does not exist, just past the sample from knreed's post into notepad and save it as explained and apply by either restarting the client or reading it in the via the Advanced menu.
----------------------------------------If the file does exist, open it with notepad and insert <checkpoint_debug>1</checkpoint_debug> between the <log_flag> lines

I just got the brand new Beta_faah4001 workunits. They seem to have the same problem and bounce between 7.33% and 7.68%.
---------------------------------------- Will keep you posted. EDIT: Ok, it passed that point. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Van Fanel at Apr 20, 2008 5:35:56 PM] |

Lets emphasize: It's not a problem. It's how autodock works. Assuming the 7.33 / 7.68% alternation was the first, you got a job with approximately 13 segments. Over the duration we've had FAAH jobs that varied from just 1 to over 30 segments. When each segment completes, a checkpoint is written to disk, so when the program stopped and restart edit can resume from that checkpoint.

But if it's disconcerting to even us, it's probably going to be even more so to the general user base. I think that's our major point. Sek, the link you've given is not to a table but to an icon of a printer. I also picked up a few more FAAH Beta tasks. I'm monitoring my BOINC debug messages now to see if I do lose any time crunched with these when they drop back for another attempt. I definitely was last night, but it's possible it was a problem with my computer. Since restarting it, it seems to be going more smoothly. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by breathesgelatin at Apr 20, 2008 6:15:20 PM] |

The error rate on FAAH is absolutely minute and very few over time have made an enquiry on this since back in 2006 when the project was still pretty new. If running the 7 or 8 hours versions (on a semi fast machine), most would not even be able to see it and when running 10+ hours the number would just be static.... and those with race horses would see it alternate for a minute or two and move on.
