confused 36 hours and 0%

I have just started using this and have sent in a couple of results. I am set to 5gb for storage. The current task is at 36 hours and shows 0%. Is this ok?

Re: 36 hours and 0%

smile Hi Redcoat999

It would appear you have a non convergant Work Unit
To kill it and get a new one follow these instructions:

Right click on the Toolbar at the bottom of the screen and open Task Manager
Go to the Processes page and click on WCGrid_Rosetta.exe
Click on End Process at the bottom of that box
This will kill the program
Go to Start/Programs/World Community Grid
Double click on WorldCommunityGrid Agent and when the program restarts, as long as you are connected to the web, you should receive a new work unit

I hope this helps
Regards

biggrin Re: 36 hours and 0%

Don't worry, when he says kill, he doesn't mean nuking the program so that it is dead permanently... the program can be resurrected from the ashes from where it came from!!! wink biggrin

Re: 36 hours and 0%

I just saw this thread. I have a similar one open at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1965

I just had this happen for the first time - I wonder if there's a 'bad batch' of work units being distributed...

I also noticed something about 'web tests' - can't find that I'm doing that, but I understand that some applications are where the client is doing testing, instead of crunching. I can't find much info on this....

Still looking for answers!

Re: 36 hours and 0%

it didn't appear to download anything new, just said primary task executing again with nothing apparent happening, and it starts at 0 time again for task run time

cool Kill Rosetta

If you want to kill your work unit, use Task Manager to kill WCGrid_Rosetta.exe. Do not kill ud.exe. ud.exe will decide that something went wrong with Rosetta and will send this information back to the server and then request a new copy of Rosetta (to avoid whatever corrupted the old copy) and a new work unit. If you kill ud.exe, then the next boot will simply start with whatever it finds on the disk, like any other boot.

No Progress On Work Unit

Graham,

I have a similar problem. Been running for over 2 days but 'stuck' on 51%. Tried your advice using Task Manager and killed WCGRossetta.exe. When I go to Programs and double click on WCG Agent, it says another instance is already running!!

The work unit still shows the same details as before as well, i.e. 51% and that the primary task is executing.

The only thing I have lost is the WCGRossetta.exe file

Any suggestions would be welcome. If the current task will just run and end at some point I am happy to let it run.

Thanks,
Dimuth

Re: No Progress On Work Unit

Dimuth --

It sounds like the agent is stuck in a wait on your system -- have you tried to reboot since killing Rosetta? That might get you your fresh start.
