Flucuating cpu's

The machine running Fedora 8 working on dd wu's has it's cpu's %'s going up and down like a yo-yo. It takes longer to do because of this. The dd units used to go at full bore. Is this normal for some wu's?

Re: Flucuating cpu's

It's normal if using the Minimum Impact, Power Saving or Standard Device profile. If you switch to the Maximum Output Profile, all jobs of all sciences will run full bore (the word makes me think of a male pig or something or is it boring :-). Go My Grid > Device Manager > Device Profile > Default > Choose and Save to make the change. It will take effect on next client-server contact.

Here's an FAQ for the different settings used in the various preset profiles:

[edit: expanded the profiles listed in first sentence using only a % of the CPU resource]
