Is normal WU crunching for almost 70 hours and ask for more 32 hours at least ?

shock
Hi all, maybe I missing someting in other thread... there are a lot of information inside each thread here...it is impossible to capture all ones... so I ask you :

Is normal an AC@H WU crunching for almost 70 hours and ask for more 32 hours at least to completion ? The report deadline is 03/30/2008 ...

This WU (ach1_25_12_6) was downloaded 70 hours ago and are crunching until now without stops... and show that need around more 32 hours (or much more once crunched just 57,2% of total in this time).

Just to information:

The machine is a Notebook running 24/7 high priority Windows XP SP2 with a Core Duo 2 GHz CPU and 2 GB RAM. I did not stop the machine until now, and don't make any SW download or any machine intervention...

The machine are running another AC@H WU (ach1_26_45_4) in normal time until now (around 8-9 hours in average to run an AC@H WU per my results with two ones ran before).

Is it normal ? There are huge WU's like that crunching in WCG ? confused

Re: Is normal an WU crunching for almost 70 hours and ask for more 32 hours at least ?

Yea, that definitely sounds like a odd one or perhaps stuck wu to me, although I could be wrong. Out of the 8 wu's I have run, not one has made it to the nine hour mark before they ended.

Have you pulled up in your Result Status area and clicked on that work unit (Result Name), to see what kind of other times the other machines have crunched it for ? That should be a good indication if its your PC or the Work Unit itself. Hope that helps.

A core duo 2ghz should have been long finished. Follow the advise of [B-S] Gamma-Ray and also, considering its a laptop, check if the CPU is running at the nominal speed or has switched down due e.g. heat. E.g. CPU-Z utility tells you this and Speedfan or Core Temp utils tell you the temp.

Is the task still making % progress in the Tasks window of BOINCmgr?
Think i saw you posting yesterday that you had an error on a climate job.

Re: Is normal an WU crunching for almost 70 hours and ask for more 32 hours at least ?

Should GIBA have his machine running "high priority"?

The machine is a Notebook running 24/7 high priority Windows XP SP2 with a Core Duo 2 GHz CPU and 2 GB RAM.

maybe that is slowing things down confused

Diana G., me thinketh, therefore I ammeth, that GIBA is referring to the info in the Tasks Window. It followeth that the job will be finished before anything else will be completeth.

Have a good Easter Monday

(fear he'll get a badge with disappointing credits)

Re: Is normal an WU crunching for almost 70 hours and ask for more 32 hours at least ?

Hi, some tech could opine about this WU case related in this thread ?

Just updating: The WU continue crunching and progressing, and are now with almost 90 hours with 70% fo work completed, but ask for more at least 27 hours to completion...

Could I continue or abort it ? Regards.

Re: Is normal an WU crunching for almost 70 hours and ask for more 32 hours at least ?

So we have:

This WU continue progressing and are now around 65% complete, after almost 81 hours.

and

90 hours with 70% for work completed

that is

5% for 9 hours, which extrapolates to 180 hours.

is your CPU running at 2ghz?

It was and still is not comprehended why this C2D needs that much time. Check the Result Status page Work unit details and abort if all only needed a fraction of your CPU time. Techs wont be here to 'opine' until tomorrow.
