Improvement idea: sprint a project

Hello all,

looking at the following Sek's graph we can see there are 2 projects with the estimated end in December 2008, DDD and HPF2.

What about sprint everybody in one of them? For example, if everybody researches only HPF2, we can reduce drastically the months we need to finish it and the project will be finish very soon. After that, we can sprint other projects in the same way.

Other idea can be make the "project of the month". Everybody will crunch only for this project for this month, getting a lot of new results and tasks completed back to the scientists.

There will be people always in all the projects because its impossible to get a 100% of participation in this idea, so all the projects will continue crunching anyway.

What do you think?

.... need to fix the graph for HPF2.... will be a few years more if not longer with all the new protein info being added. Expect for this project to be split in segments same as the FAAH project has the experiments.... now #18 is in circulation cool

But Really, we need more horsepower.... tell a friend, and convert from UD to BOINC to unleash the full potential of multi core computers.... put the WCG widget on your personal websites and other places.

Ok! Anyways, the idea is still valid to finish DDD.

Maybe we can ask to the community about different publishing systems.
Maybe a new thread with different ideas like that.

Gonna write it.

Re: Improvement idea: sprint a project

Great, The DDD-T project will soon switch to single distribution instead of quorum 2. The New validation looks to work to satisfaction and was planned to be going into Beta this week. If that happens this project will go twice as fast, PLUS, the admin shared that the target is to have the Phase 1 done sooner. Presently WCG is holding back the DDD-T share for the 'All Project' crunchers, pending the changes. The goal is for all projects to have equal share and more importantly, to hit target completion dates if they are not semi ad-infinitum like FA@H and HPF2 with ever new added work and experiments (which is good). DDD-T Phase 2 uses the Phase 1 data and that will launch before phase 1 is finished.

As to the share, that how WCG controls the progress. It's continuously tweaking how much of each goes into the pool to ensure that the scientists get batches so they dont have time to twiddle their thumbs.

ciao ciao

PS, I'm updating that pie today and be removing the percentages for some as it's not practical to estimate progress accurately. The Scientists/Project owners are the only actually in the know.
