Re: any news after this last report?

Hello halfcard,
I have not heard anything. The only thing I have heard from Fiocruz since August 2007 is about a possible Cancer project for us -- still in the development stage so no guarantees that it will show up. Not expected to go live this year. Everything takes time. I am hoping to hear something about HCMD from knreed soon.

Re: any news after this last report?

ok i am quoting here the relevant part from your link, although the date of that report is not clear to me:

Recently, the
calculation stage of the Genome Comparison Project (Genome
Comparison Project 2007), in which all protein
coding genes from all completed genomes so far were
compared in a pairwise manner, using the Smith-Waterman
algorithm on the World Community Grid (World
Community Grid, 2007), was finished. Results of these
comparisons allow for the development of several studies
in phylogeny and molecular evolution, and will soon be
available for the whole scientific community

Re: any news after this last report?

World Community Grid stay in regular contact with the completed projects, as well as the active projects. So, no news just means they aren't ready to go public with their results yet.

Re: any news after this last report?

Hi Halfcard,
additionaly to messages posted above by all, I would like to mention that Foicruz is one of most resctables health Institutions in Brazil, but depends on Governement for all, once is an GFovernment Foundation for Health.

You could find more about Fiocruz and its reasearch areas on the web site (but be advised that is very limitated web site in informations):

http://www.fiocruz.br/cgi/cgilua.exe/sys/star...ate%5Fingles&tpl=home

Here in Brazil, the Genome Comparison project are not communicated a lot, just some slots in TV months ago, and some press releases articles in the open press are published (maybe in specialized press there are more to read...).

If you search in Fiocruz web site, you don't find much more information about Genome Comparison project (just some press releases).

I hope that Fiocruz scientists send to WCG more clear and complete information to feed all crunchers with a little bit more information about the results of this project.

Regards. Giba.

We continue to meet with the Fiocruz researchers monthly to monitor progress and hope to have something to report soon.
