interesting definition of aging

"broadly defined as changes that occur over time that adversely affect the overall vitality or health of an organism."
http://www.buckinstitute.org/site/index.php?o...amp;id=280&Itemid=335

the US government is giving money for anti-aging research:

makes me wonder if WCG-type processing could help one day.

Re: interesting definition of aging

It's one piece of research we don't need.... fighting diseases is fine, but if we ware out, we ware out as nature intended. Generally the haves get much older than the have nots. The Average Age in The Netherlands was 25-30 in 1600-1700 (read that last week). Now it's over 80! In many places in the 3rd world, 25-35 is still the live expectancy.... better get those food prices back down from the maddening price increases due e.g. to the bio-fuel folly. The "far from my bedstead" events in the western world of decadence to many.

Re: interesting definition of aging

well sek, you know this search has been going on a very long time! smile

"A long-standing story is that Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de León, Puerto Rico's first Governor, was searching for the Fountain of Youth when he traveled to present-day Florida in 1513.. Tales of healing waters date to at least the time of the Alexander Romance, and were popular right up to the European Age of Exploration.. in the Eastern versions of the Alexander Romance, Alexander and his servant cross the Land of Darkness to find the restorative spring. Arabic and Aljamiado versions were very popular in Spain during and after the period of Moorish rule, and would have been known to the explorers who journeyed to America."

Re: interesting definition of aging

LoL, we use Olive Oil Lavishly.... My oldest Aunt is 88 and her best friend is 92.... my parents are still hopping around in fairly good doing and travel frequently.... not many look for that fountain of youth over here! BUT, for most as recently that writer of 81 said hours before passing in sleep and after eating a jam sandwich ".... it's been good".
