For starters I am new to this project and did not have a clue what to expect. But my team ask for some of us to join in on this Bunny race, so I though what the heck. Now that I have been on this Bunny race for a week now I have notice that the project has increased the wu size fro 45 min wu on a q6600 intel to now 4 to 5 hour wu on the same machine.
Now come on folks you know that you should not change the playing field while a race is in full swing. This wu change has caused havac with my AMD 9600. The program running on a AMD 9600 seems twice as slow forit and all of My AMD units. My point is you don't change the size of the football field during the course of the game to a larger field. Lets be fair folks... Just My thoughts. ![]() |

Hi,
----------------------------------------Opposed to some other projects where the credits are 'doctored', here it's next to completely irrelevant. The credits per hours stay the same regardless what project at WCG you crunch. The races are organised by the members. If WCG were to postpone it's development nothing would progress.... after all we are in a hunt to find medicine or keys that can help to stop diseases and deceasing. The new workunits will allow to double the progress for the Dengue research. ciao

Two things to consider here.
Firstly, there seems to be a race of some sort happening here constantly. So, there is no advantageous period of time to upgrade WU's. It happens when it happens, and justifiably so. Secondly, all members (and respective teams) are affected by these changes, not just those in the race(s). Crunch on. |

I completely understand. The end justifies the means.. And it was just a stroke of fate that the wu's got bigger. Ok..(RIGHT) So with this in mind its been fun. Good luck on your projects.

I detect a note of scepticism in your reply, so I will bottom-line this for you:
1) Credit isn't affected - longer running work unit, more credit. Credit per hour is rock-steady identical. 2) Deadline aren't a problem - longer work unit, longer deadline. 3) This isn't unusual. This particular size change was publicised well in advance. |

The average time per result has varied widely. Check the graphshere. The number of results per day and the average time per result don't track the points or CPU times very well.

The one thing to note: No matter what has happend, it has happend to everyone evenly.
----------------------------------------Here is a graph of SETI.USA, along with similar scoring teams: ![]() The problem actually was much worse before work to 'balance out the HCC project' completed just before the race started. But since the change occured right before the race, know one could know exactly the field. ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by courine at Mar 10, 2008 9:27:13 AM] |

The slight delay in validation due the longer run times of DDDT equally effecting the members showed with the first part of uplift on Sunday adding 2.7 million points extra over Saturday, just for those in the Bunny Race.... overall WCG did 11 million extra points on this day. Later today i'll be updating the DDDT performance chart. Then we'll see if the longer run times effected the averages by any significance. Visit the Supplemental Graph post in Start Here or the DDDT support forum at your leisure how this projects is doing.

Anyway, seeming the direction this thread is going, I'll ask the admins to consider locking this as it is entirely and thoroughly off topic. [Edit: Corrected profile ref.]
