Missing file?
switched one of my linux boxes to windows tonight and received a failed download error, boinc gave up trying to find 5.42 dat file or similar. tried on 2 seperate W/U's and reported file couldn't be found both times. This was after a reset of WCG on this machine. I have had to opt out of FAAH for the time being until I can get an answer

have re-enabled faah on all machines and have set a different device profile excluding faah on the problem machine

If you have other Windows machines running FAAH correctly, use a USB flash drive to copy the file over to the problem machine.

I just set up a new Windows machine and copied all of the application, data, and graphic files to it with USB flash and saved the bandwidth as my ISP has monthly transfer limits.

If you have no completely downloaded workunit in progress do a project reset, than post the actual message log from startup to where the fail is repeating.

Scrutinize if your security software is meddling with the files. It's by far the first time that a definition update has caused a problem. What AV is running and what others like firewall and antispam?

Dowload failed again. Did a project-reset but it didn't help at all.

Firewall: Windows-XP-standard firewall
AV: avira antivir personaledition classic

Already tried to switch them both temporary off, but this made no difference.

I am having what I think is the same problem. I setup up a brand new Vista computer today and installed BOINC. The other project work but not FAAH. Missing file?

hmmm, it looks like an initial setup file to crunch faah is not in the right place as I've been getting faah work even a few hours ago. Confirm that I have the file with a date stamp of 21-12-2007 19:52 checking one client and 550kb in size. Internally it says it was created on Dec.15, 2007

As per suggestion of BobCat13, if you have another computer with a running client find that file and copy it over and restart BOINC.

Also for the experiment, switch in your web profile the project temporarily e.g. choose HCC, just to proof that the machine will process correctly.

Sorry, but think the techs like uplinger or knreed need notifying to resolve this.

HCC is working fine. Sorry, don't have a other computer to copy the missing file from. Hope the techs could help.

I have several machines working, and only the brand new one is not running faah. So I copied the faah_protease_5.42.dat from one of the other machines and requested work. The file that I copied over was written over by a file with 0 kb size and the failed to run.
