(I couldn't see a thread about it, sry if its there)
I have the BOINC client running as screen saver. After its been doing its thing no program can see that DX is installed until i close BOINC. Its very strange, if only mildly annoying. Can any1 think of a reason it might do this? OS: VHP 64 (everything up to date) |

AFAIK BOINC graphics do not touch the MS specific DX drivers. It's because BOINC and the sciences graphics need to be easily portable to for instance Linux or MAC who are oblivious to DX. For this portability reason OpenGL is used. Have a check if all your video drivers are up to date. But,

What version of BOINC do you have? According to that ticket, the problem is fixed. The ticket should have been closed.
Have you updated your graphics drivers? Use dxdiag to check what drivers are actually in use, and if there are any problems with them. |

Thanks for the link to the ticket. So my next question is "which version of Boinc are you using?".

Seems from reading a Vista article that NVidia is the biggest source of Vista problems.... and my PC having that brand of display card. Twice already updated the drivers for them.

DX10 on Vista? It's as miracle that you get graphics at all with BOINC other than the bouncing logo plus some statistical data showing the progress. Will be fixed with BOINC release 6. I am running BOINC on two Vista Machines, so with DirectX, probably started at 5.8.x, I installed as a Single User to C:\BOINC, I run the graphics, I have never had a problem. >>RSM |
