Re: why does it run at high priority?

Hello kyoq,
Look at My Grid - Device Manager and click on your Device Profile (home, work, school, default). Make sure that you have selected 'Maximum Output' so that you are not running into memory constraints. Also make sure that you can run at least 2 threads per computer.

Re: why does it run at high priority?

Hi everybody!

Lawrence! Tanks for your reply!
I've checked in My Grid->Device Manager->Device Profile, and I've 'maximum output selected'.
Also I went to personal settings in Boinc client, I've reset all 'personal settings'. So it's now all like web-based settings..
I had to cancel job running to communicate with WCG. And one more time I have only one task 'running, high priority'.
And my PC could do another one in the same time..

Any other ideas?

Best regards
Adam

Re: why does it run at high priority?

Can you please go to the BOINC program dir and post the first 40 lines of the client_state.xml. Also scroll down in there to the World Community Grid section where there is a line called <duration_correction_factor>.

That will tell us a bunch more.

The lines look like

Re: why does it run at high priority?

missing the duration correction factor line but already see one issue:

<on_frac>0.295264</on_frac>

Your computer gets work and is surely thinking it cannot finish it in time, but to properly relate need that DCF item for WCG.

Re: why does it run at high priority?

Yes, confirmed, your system is completely out of whack... the DCF is 97, but should be around 1 like in my example. Finish the jobs you have and reset WCG in the Projects tab. I don't want you to meddle in the client_state.xml.... leave that to the experienced.

ciao

[EDIT: Go to the Project Tab, Select WCG and select the "No New Tasks" button until you've finished the jobs in progress/cache and done the Project Reset. After you can hit the "Allow New Work" which with normality returned should give you new work and no High Priority Processing]

Re: why does it run at high priority?

Thank you very much!
Reset helped immediately :)

My question is - what could be the reason of this mess? I didn't touch any options in BOINC, I didn't have any problems (i.e. hang-ups) with PC.

Any ideas?

Thanks once again..

Best regards
Adam

Re: why does it run at high priority?

The easiest is to blame WCG for changing the run times and sending very long jobs with very short run time estimates and vice versa. It likely coincided with you having crunched part time. The <on _frac> is an indicator for that.

Anyway, given you took the shortcut and went straight to Reset, no further need to delve. Trust you now know what to check and what to do to cure it.
