Re: FightAIDS@Home Crunching Chart

Don't know how to read this scientist update, https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,37549 and http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/status/ but there's an end after all for what we're doing now, processing experiments.

Re: FightAIDS@Home Crunching Chart

With the word being from the scientist there's 1 year's worth of AD VINA work to do [of course subject to change withut notice], finally took the time to add Y-axis labels and 'mean' bars to the bottom mini graphs on the Performance chart . After 9+ years it became hard to see where a hi/lo/mean point lay, so made them extra fat. Yes I Can. biggrin

Re: FightAIDS@Home Crunching Chart

'The last steps are the hardest' (or something to that effect), 21 results validated yesterday, the project standing at 782,0121,171 , yes 782 Million. Tough to chew, the meantime per result rose from 0.9 hours to 3.2 hours, a peak even of 4.38 hrs on Sunday. Graphically presented at http://bit.ly/WCGFAaH [case sensitive ;], why it says 99.98% and not 99.99%, pass... it's not 100% yet :O)

Re: FightAIDS@Home Crunching Chart

So how do you calculate the percentage complete? A new computer needs to return 10 valid results before the project will allow a quorum of 1, even then there are times where a validated machine will still get WU's that require a quorum of 2. Then you have a machine sending a result and their wingman sends a different result so it needs to send a third iteration out. Then you have results that have errored out on some machines and others that are a no reply. Lastly, you have some that received three validated results back.

Re: FightAIDS@Home Crunching Chart

No validations this morning... 99.999999% complete :D

see http://bit.ly/WCGFAaH (Yes, the percent is truncated at 2 decimal ;p)

(Uplinger's 2-3 weeks looks to stay slightly less than the full 3 week mark, which ends Saturday ;)

Re: FightAIDS@Home Crunching Chart

@SekeRob
Normally I would send you a PM but since this forum doesn't have this, posting a reply to you in a forum is my next best option.

Truly thank you for making and updating the http://bit.ly/WCGPIE1 dashboard. It has become part of my morning ritual and the best way for me to see how much estimated time is left for the various projects. Seriously, I really appreciate it!

Clarification:
At the pie chart at the top I can find CEP with 32,191 years of runtime but can't find CEP2. CEP1's stats page says 2k runtime and CEP2's stats page says 34k and counting. I see 34k for CEP2 in the table below but I feel I am missing something looking at the pie chart.

Request:
As C4CW and SN2S show completed status and there are no changes in the "12 month history" row, can they be removed from the table?

And while I'm here, an open question to everyone. I am curious why FA@H took 10 years to run 341k but MCM was able to run 155k in under 2 years. Is it because the number of cores in each home CPU has risen from 1 to 2, 4, and sometimes 8 and people are using older machines for crunching in addition to their newer computers? Is much of it cloud computing or are the number of IT people with access to servers joining in higher numbers? I heard the number of smartphones in WCG is pretty small and projects like MCM can't run on Android, so it isn't that. Thoughts?

Seoulpowergrid,

Place to ask general chart questions, lest it's specific to the topic/project related graph: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,25987

(Will not give up on keeping threads on topic, though at WCG it's in general carrying coals to Newcastle).

Re: FightAIDS@Home Crunching Chart

Day 2 of zero results. Froze the performance chart as there's no reason to curve blank days... or the declaration of 100% arrives. :D
