Which experiment number is AcetasemideMethoxy?

I just got a work unit with the name AcetasemideMethoxy on it? What experiment number is it and what is the experiment testing?

Re: Which experiment number is AcetasemideMethoxy?

What's the batch number up front? Per Dr. Perryman, the higher the number the higher the experiment. Somewhere he gave a few ranges and to which experiment they belonged.

Added: Ah yes, here he posted that

2785 - 2947 is experiment 14.
3082 - 3144 is experiment 16.

It follows that 2948 - 3081 would be somewhere between 14 and 16 and anything over 3144 would be 17, the last known experiment so far.

Re: Which experiment number is AcetasemideMethoxy?

My most recent FAAH work unit was numbered 3155 and titled frag2---. Experiment 17 is titled 'Relaxed Complex Method of Several Compounds, Their Fragments & Several Derivatives---'. So 3158 AcetasemideMethoxy might still be experiment 17 or might be the start of experiment 18. Probably still experiment 17.

Re: Which experiment number is AcetasemideMethoxy?

Hi Larry,
I'm not good with organic nomenclature. It's been about a decade since I took the chemistry classes that covered the naming rules, and I've forgotten quite a bit. That name is certainly not correct, according to the IUPAC rules, but it's useful for me personally/internally. It's a combination of two different fragments, to which I added a methoxy group (i.e, an -O-CH3). If it ends up being a useful or interesting compound, then it's detailed structure will be presented to the public in the publications that eventually result from this research.

These experiments (i.e., Experiments 16 and 17, which cover batch numbers faah3082 to faah3201) are trying to look for compounds that might bind fairly well to the potential allosteric inhibitor site on the sides of HIV protease (i.e., the "exo" site). If some of these compounds do bind well, then I will combine and decorate them in different ways, re-test the new compounds, and try to find new compounds that bind very well to that exo site.

Thanks for your help,
Dr. Alex Perryman
