Re: Unable to Process

Hey, Rod. I an also running an AMD on a Compaq with virtually the same build as yours with no problems.

I'm also running Norton SystemWorks and Alluria Spyware.

Welcome & good luck.

smile Re: Unable to Process

I am running McAfee v6 on both my sons systems. The UD agent (which is what the WCG agent is based upon) has always had issues with the Compaq AMD system and no issues with the Medion Intel system, both running XP-home.

To be honest I am not that bothered and I did make a large effort with the UD folks who couldn't resolve the problem. I am happy to post details to someone who might be able to fix the problem but I am not going to reinstall systems/applications again (have just rebuilt the Compaq system from the F10 recovery option with no difference).

I have 3 other systems running find with the UD agent so that is enough of a contribution (you should see my electricity bill). smile

Re: Unable to Process Task Data - Backing Off

Yes, I get it everytime when I start the program. All seems to be fine at first, program loads data from the server but suddenly it shows: "Unable to Process Task Data - Backing Off".

Desktop includes:
------------------------------------
- AMD 64 3500+
- 1Gb DDR
- 120 Gb HD
- 2000-3500Mb Virtual pagefile
- T1 line speed
- F-Secure Internet Security 2005 + SP1

Could someone give me a hint to solve this problem?

Thanks, Metzo

Re: Unable to Process Task Data - Backing Off

I cannot tell for certain, but I would start by looking at your firewall. It might be blocking the agent in some way. Check the rules it has in place. See if you can temporarily turn the firewall off. Minimize the agent and then bring it back up to make it immediately try to communicate with the server. Do you have any other blocking tools such as spyware checkers or something? They might also cause the problem.

Firewall was OK, but the main problem was Lavasoft Ad-aware.
It works fine now.

Thank you,

Re: Unable to Process Task Data - Backing Off

Karlsson, Did you ever get your problem resolved? If not, we need to continue to chase it. In some large majority of cases that I have seen, the problem that you describe here is caused by software. A firewall or a popup blocker or some bit of sofware stops the WCG Agent from communicating. It could be the windows firewall or ZoneAlarm, Norton, or a whole host of others. Let us know so we can try to chase it more. confused
Regards.

I don't think he ever did get it resolved. I just checked and wario255 joined on February 12 and has never returned a result.
