Hi all. I've been running BOINC for quite some time with no problems on 2 desktop machines but I installed it on a laptop today and can't seem to get it to request work sensibly. It's requesting 0 seconds of work, then reporting success, funnily enough. I've reset the local prefs and the project, but I can't think what else it could be. There's plenty of resources available. I'll paste in the recent messages so you can see where I've been fiddling with it, does anybody have any ideas? Thanks

This means you are hitting the "Update" button hoping it will get more work. But if BOINC calculates that you don't need more work, it won't get it. So, everything is working fine. If you want BOINC to queue more work, then alter your preferences. |

Ignore my previous note.... you got netwroking later, but at the very end before the lost zero work request there was this:

You mentioned a laptop. Remember, by default BOINC won't compute on battery power.

Aye, I changed that when I ran through the prefs right after install, but it's moot anyway as the lappy in question is never run off the battery.

Currently, I'm sharing the World Grid with Einstein@home. Right now, I've finished my latest unit from here and for over a day now, have downloaded no new work. When I try to Update, it requests zero units of work, and that's what it gets. How do I get back on track?

Hello JoeZeff,
How large an additional work cache did you specify in your preferences? Remember that a few hours of additional work should see you past any normal outages, particularly since you can draw upon 2 project servers. Lawrence |

I don't think that that's relevant here. Right now, I have no work from the WCG, only from Einstein@home, and asking for more so that I can do something gets me nothing. I'm fairly sure that if there were work in my cache, BOINC would report it and use it.
