Hi, your version 5.10.8 strikes me as an old alpha release. Try getting the latest recommended version from for instance the WCG download (link on front page).
----------------------------------------Also see the Start Here forum on SSL related issues. WCG uses secure comms. There are about 3-4 items like the way of the LibCurl compile and the missing certificate (or not being in the right place). ttyl Added: Here's a Start Here search filter link for SSL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...=&forum=3&rows=20

The connection is just timing out. That is an error condition I have never seen before.
As Sekerob says, please upgrade to a recommended release version. Is it possible that you have blocked port 443? |

Hi!
Thx for your fast answer - i upgraded boinc to 5.10.28, but with no success. I dont know how to fix the ssl issue - i tried to get another libcurl version with ssl but "u allready have the newest version" (libcurl3, i think with ssl, but i do not know how to check it) Any suggestions? Thx again! K. |

libCurl issues usually give different error messages. Proxy errors do, too.
This is why I think it is possible you are simply blocking SSL with your security software. Where are you getting BOINC from? |

Is there any way you could test your ability to connect via SSL independently of BOINC? Preferably by using Curl on the command line.
So far, your problem seems to be unique. |

Try sending a GET to the scheduler URL:
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/fcgi On second thought: don't. Let's try the BOINC log flags instead. Create a file called cc_config.xml in your BOINC installation folder that contains the following: <cc_config> <log_flags> <file_xfer_debug>1</file_xfer_debug> <http_debug>1</http_debug> <http_xfer_debug>1</http_xfer_debug> <proxy_debug>1</proxy_debug> </log_flags> <options> </options> </cc_config> Restart BOINC, and you will see far more detailed log messages. |
