1st AfricanClimate WU deadline WAY too short

I got my first African Climate WU (ach1_19_59_16). It was estimated to take about 7:30:00, but it steadily increases. Since the deadline was only about 24 hours in the future, there seems to be little point in continuing. My other projects make the deadline unlikely to be met.

I run other projects, and don't have time to monitor this one to know when to abort a work unit. What should I do?

Re: 1st AfricanClimate WU deadline WAY too short

A short deadline like that means that it is a replacement copy sent out to make up for another copy that wasn't returned in time.

The short deadline is to guarantee that BOINC gives it top priority and returns it as soon as possible.

There have been some very large ACH work units recently, so it is perfectly possible that this unit may take a very long time despite the original estimate.

I say let it run, but it's your decision not mine.

The BOINC agent will automatically give priority to workunits that are in danger of missing their deadlines.

I would encourage you let the workunit run to completion.

We are also adjusting the estimated runtime of the AfricanClimate@Home workunits to reflect longer runtimes.
