Hello,
I ran WCG client for months under Windows XP (32bit) with my Intel Core2 Duo E6400 CPU, and the task manager always showed 100% workload (50% on each of the 2 tasks that are being processed). Everything ran smooth and slick. I migrated to Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit and now I barely get around 1/3 of the performance I used to have (task manager is reporting roughly 35-40% workload per core) and instead of better performance I have sluggish crunching now :( Can anyone give me some advice or at least comfort me with the info that soon there will be WCG client for 64bit Vista that will utilize all the benefits of the 64bit computing? ;) Thanks in advance! |

Check that you don't have BOINC throttled. Set CPU utilisation to 100% in your preferences.

I did set up the 'throttle' to 100% but now my workload on every core is going up and down like crazy in between 5% and 86% so still no stable 100% :(
Maybe 64 bit Vista just doesn't go that well with the current client versions of the WCG? |

How are you changing the throttle? That sounds like your problem.
You can do it on the website (you need to wait for the new settings to take effect) or you can do it with BOINC Manager (this overrides the web settings and means changing the web settings won't work any more). Daft, isn't it? |
