How much more work/time are we looking at with the current HCC?

I read, and liked Lawrence Hardin's view of the present state of affairs with HCC. So, since we are keeping it until done, how long? BTW, my simple machine never has problems with the software. It's too slow! But it is the great tortoise among us, so beware!! Maybe the next, if there is to be a Chapter 2 HCC, can be written with the special effects of the first one kept in mind.

Did you miss the update from the HCC scientists?

The project is scheduled to run for over a year longer.

They are a bit constrained, oh well. I saved the PDF, gonna send it to some sick friends. Show them what good stuff is going on here. A couple of them have some wild potential crunchers. multi-core gamers, that sort! biggrin rose good luck

Re: How much more work/time are we looking at with the current HCC?

Just take the Work Units done in the project stats and express that as a % of the approximate 180 million units overall (including the quorum 2 + fall out). About 3.2% we are as of this morning.

I've started getting "no new work for Help Conquer Cancer" on three computers... Is there not more work or is it only temporary? shock

Re: How much more work/time are we looking at with the current HCC?

Due to very large overall work unit processing we're likely having bottlenecking. Didactylos opened a post in the BOINC support forum and an alert is out in the back room. Ad interim suggest to set the additional buffer (cache) up a notch for backup work to e.g. 0.5 days. It's easier for the servers to send multiple units to one client than sending piece-meal 1 at the time.

I already have it set to one day and one day cache back up, but they're dwindling fast... cool
