this i read actually elsewhere a number of weeks ago.... and we're 2 steps away from ending natural selection and not having to wait for climate change to fry us. It should be forbidden and the gods should do their job and intervene and strike these notions from the Dr LoveStrange brains.

Non-sense! We're still babies in the grand scheme of things. We haven't really mastered anything yet. We are not even amateurs in the arena of creating man-made life. Creating simple, biological warfare agents or a recombination of viruses to create AIDS is NOT anything note worthy.
Even if they got really lucky and created life then it would have to consistently and reliably be reproductible to have any possibly use. We're decades away from doing this at bare minimum. Throughout the years I've began to realize most news is garbage and will never amount to anything in the real world. Take caution when reading these things! |

"On the one hand it's an amazing piece of science but the real concern is that it's another example of science delving into matters that have potentially dangerous consequences," he said.

Blah! Hype over nothing important. 'Synthetic life' is re-arranging EXISTING DNA sequences, according to the article above. That is Child's play...Not a threat to anyone. Infact, I'm not even sure if there is an end benefit to humanity?
Yes, interesting..but, probably nothing more. Claiming a threat is a bit extreme. |

Thanks rbolo29
![]() I wanted to point out several important steps that the article did not address at all. But I decided that I would risk being thought a sour-minded debunker if I jumped in with a list of omissions. So I am happy to find myself in good skeptical company. ![]() Lawrence |
