I have been having problems getting more work from World Community Grid, and the only way I have been able to resolve this when I see it is to do a Remove Project in the dropdown list, and then add the project back in.1/19/2008 4:12:57 PM|World Community Grid|Started upload of lm110_00063_16_0 1/19/2008 4:13:00 PM|World Community Grid|Temporarily failed upload of lm110_00063_16_0: system connect 1/19/2008 4:13:00 PM|World Community Grid|Backing off 1 hr 50 min 53 sec on upload of lm110_00063_16_0 1/19/2008 5:20:35 PM|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. What project(s) are set?
----------------------------------------African Climate is quite scarce, even if it is selected. Every now and then, others may run out. There is not any beta work at the moment, either. You shouldn't have to delete a project and readd it. It is possible to do an "update" on the project screen, but too much of that and BOINC just issues another delay. Why not check the box to send other work if your project runs out? That way you should get something else to process. I noticed this morning that Help Conquer Cancer had run out, and I got a FAAH instead. I got another HCC later. The "can't connect to server" occasionally appears, especially at statistics or maintenance times. I have enough workunits in my queue that I don't really care about short term outages.

Since I posted, I found I was not able to upload or download to Word Community Grid whether I deleted the project and added iit back, or not. I tried adding a different project and I had two tasks executing (duocpu). I deleted that project and was not able to get any communication going for it. As a result, I rebooted windows and added WCG back in. Now I was able to see multiple tasks being downloaded and I had two WCG tasks executing as normal.
It would appear something occurred in Windows xp that prevented communication with the server. This is the second time this has happened that I am aware of. The previous time I did not have to reboot Windows. Regarding the tasks which were running, I believe they were faah and hpf2, but I am excepting tasks for all projects in WCG. Thank you. |
