I'm just about to hit the due date/time. Seems that after a period of time the system goes to sleep and stops BOINC computing. I have come several times to hit the enter key to wake up, ........ but, What to do with this 24/7 Pent II, 450MHz system ??

I would say such a computer is not cost-effective.
I would unplug it and use the savings to buy a new computer. If you don't want to do that, then disable the BOINC screensaver. Use "blank" instead. |

... computer is not cost-effective. Your correct but for over seven years it's been doing well.... unplug it and ... buy a new computer. I was looking at he new pnenome AMD 4 core boxes by HP. The box by itself goes for about $925 at best buy and Circuit city. I'll be able to get one next month and I think I will. There goes my vacation money !If you don't want to do that, then disable the BOINC screensaver. Use "blank" instead. Until then, I'll try to disable the BOINC screensaver to see if that helps. Thanks PaulT |

Paul T,
----------------------------------------Force a benchmark after disabling the SS as your floating point is all off. 12:45:37 P 28 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 12:45:37 P 458 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

You could also restrict this machine to a less resource-intense project, like DDDT.
