I know dialup is slow but never this slow. This just started just after or around Christmas. Any help would be nice. Otherwise I may have to move on to another project. (not that I want to). ![]() |

It worked before and suddenly is does not on all 3 machines. Common denominator? What could have changed overnight? What security software and have you checked their logs? Latest party pooper is an update to Kaspersky!

I have thought about that but WCG is the only project that is having that problem.

Well second best guess is new member (on BOINC) behind a proxy of some sort which the secure comms cant break thru.
----------------------------------------There's an other thread regarding the proxy problem today.... going to take shuteye now.

Well second best guess is new member (on BOINC) behind a proxy of some sort which the secure comms cant break thru. There's an other thread regarding the proxy problem today.... going to take shuteye now. Been a member since 2006 if that is called "New Member" then I guess I am. I am running a standard dialup with a software type firewall from V-com called SystemSuite 8 (SS8). I been using the same firewall for years since it was SS5. BOINC is listed on the firewall as "Allow" and I have no problems with any other projects. ![]() |

The difference with any project and WCG is essentially, that here port 443 is used outbound. If there was a performance change from prior in 'dial up', i suppose meaning 56k download speed and a lower upload, can only think of the security software hashing things up or even the ISP. Maybe set up the debug logging flags in the cc_config.xml to see if that yield more information in the Message log. Here's an FAQ to activate some of the transmission and http flags: http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?langu...9401f3b411e2fd047057571b9

Just got this error this morning:

Maybe after I remove it and re-atach later it may fix any problems on my end. I don't think it will make your server like me any better! ![]() ![]() |

I have copied the file and will use it. Is it safe to use that same file for all projects? ![]() |
