On all my computers there is a project that has finished. it sais: ready to rapport. and: rapport before 9-1-2008.(btw: Happy new year!)
does this mean that i have to rapport it myself? or that theres something wrong? why doesn't he just rapport it immedietly when its done? |

Hello chriskrazz,
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16783 BOINC returns results immediately. However, it does not notify the Scheduler (or something) immediately. It waits, hoping to report several results at the same time. The developers decided to do it this way because updating the database is very 'expensive' and they are looking for all possible ways to reduce the expense. This puzzles many people and will probably change in BOINC version 6. Lawrence |

If you read the linked post in full and are still worried you should consider quitting distributed computing.

Hello lavaflow,
----------------------------------------Where are the hints published respective the reporting change behavior? This should get you started: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/SoftwareDevelopment There is a lot of talk about future directions for developing BOINC, but I have no idea which will actually come to fruition. Lawrence Added: Open source development is . . . free-wheeling. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 2, 2008 1:11:58 AM] |
