UD is Windows-only, and only utilizes one processor.
Also, the UD agent is being phased out and will no longer be supported sometime in 2008: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=15715 |

Yes - the Windows version of BOINC is a replacement for UD. (However BOINC can also run on other operating systems like Mac & Linux).

Bad boy, Scribe. The UD client and the BOINC client both run science projects. However, BOINC is newer and works on more operating systems and can take advantage of multi-core systems. The UD client will be phased out in a few months. Lawrence |

From my original observations some months ago (no trace of this correspondence searchable in any forums) there was some issue with BOINC and Windows98.
There were also projects that wouldn't run on the new client. For these reasons, at that time, I migrated only W2K and WXP machines. Are you saying that I can now run HCC, using the BOINC client, on W98 machines without issues arrising? I note that there is no longer a web page describing minimum system requirements for BOINC, or any easily accessed information covering these and similar issues. RL |

With the exception of HCMD, in fact all new projects were also on BOINC, and in fact the last three projects are ONLY BOINC being HCC, AC@H and DDD-T (a few other on BOINC only are complete).
----------------------------------------The System Minimum Requirement Page is still there (right margin download page), but think there is an old help page there with odd regression where the Windows BOINC part moved to the bottom again and the UD agent to the top.... confused. This is the newer: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq ciao f.a.o. Nelsoc / Tedi, something to fix for you WCGeans
