Add a "Delete Device" Feature!

I can't image that enabling device deletion would be very difficult (any more so than updating anything else, that is). It would allow us to get rid of those pesky unused devices.

I agree, every time for any reason I need to reinstall the software, it adds a new same device

cool Re: Add a "Delete Device" Feature!

Devices age off the visible list 1 week after installation or 2 weeks after returning a result., whichever is later. This default time can be changed using a drop-down menu. Some sort of fix is being planned for duplicate device names in either the Feb or March site update, but I have no details.

biggrin Re: Add a "Delete Device" Feature!

It would be great to be able to merge devices that are actually the same machine.....I am sure the device total on the statistics page is inflated somewhat because of the inflexible nature of the present beast.

A&Rmassey --

This is not only a great idea, it is an idea that the WCG technicians are planning to implement. This has been brought up a few times in the forums because a number of people (myself included) have for one reason or another had to reinstall the software with the result that the number of devices attributed to them is overstated. While I would love to have that third PC that shows up in my devices, I only have two.

Re: Add a "Delete Device" Feature!

As Dave mentioned, we are planning on adding the Merge Devices functionality. Bear in mind that it's not necessarily a trivial matter, and there are many other items on the To Do list. We know that the customer is always right, but when the customer is 60,000 people who all want different things, it takes some time to make everyone happy.

Re: Add a "Delete Device" Feature!

i think it's time to start this idea again. i am credited with nearly 20 devices i don't have because of having to reinstall several times with the sp2 update and other problems. sad
